About Virginia Beach

A beautiful resort city on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, Virginia Beach is a popular vacation spot known for having the longest pleasure beach in the world. The city itself is known for not only its tourism, but being home to several military bases and the headquarters of some of the nation’s most important retail companies, including Stihl, GEICO and Amerigroup. The military remains the main employer in the city, with the US Navy’s NAS Oceana being the largest.

The city is home to North America’s oldest surfing contest, the East Coast Surfing Championship, and the North American Sand Soccer Championship, both of which bring participants from around the world to compete. In addition to its beautiful beaches, Virginia Beach is home to over 200 city parks, the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge, the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center. There are also various golf courses, performing arts venues, Universities and shopping centers in the city. Virginia Beach is one of the most unique cities in Virginia, and definitely a must-see for tourists when traveling in the state.
